It is strange what one clings to and when we chose to cling to it. I've seen people hit their strides in life when devastation comes swooping in like a bird on it's prey. Sometimes these people turn to God, faith, religion; other times it turns them against those very same things. In contrast I've seen others get all their worldly wants - money, job, house - and attribute that to their strong faith and God bestowing riches on them for their faithfulness.
All that said, what do you do when life, just life, keeps throwing these obstacles at you? When each time you clear a hurdle, a larger, more looming and threatening one is put in your path. Do you stop and ask why you are being challenge, what you have done to anger the heavens or do you simply plod along and hope that in the end there is a reason and that you simply need to keep moving and it will be alright in the end?
What I have begun to realize, for myself, is that life is inherently not fair. There is no such thing as "fair" in this world. There are ups and downs, good and bad and there is no rhyme or reason to the timing or amount of when it comes at you. That's to say, you can go along for years living the charmed life and then "wham!" something bad happens. And then again, and again, and again....were you due? Is it the bad and good getting even? Well, in a way, I think it's a bit of both. Life is messy. Life is sticky and really doesn't make any sense. The best you can hope for is to smile, love and not take the badness to heart too much - because when it comes down to it, the end is the same for all of us.
